The Vandemic “Baja” floor plan for Ford Transit 148’s is intended for use as a full-time Vanlife paradise. Built on the Transit 148 LWB chassis (normal length Transit), this van can take you anywhere you want while providing extended boondocking capabilities. The dinette is easy to convert into a full-size bed while providing a comfortable place to work, eat and socialize with your friends and family. The dinette has been designed to allow a single person to sleep without having to convert the dinette into a bed by providing a sleeping area about the size of a twin sized bed (or when converted is full size). The dinette features professionally upholstered 6” memory foam mattress covered with a liquid repellent premium marine grade fabric.
Door panels and other van metal surfaces are padded then covered with a premium marine grade vinyl. We use the same type of fabrics and vinyl found on million-dollar yachts! These products are designed for years of use and abuse in the worst elements possible.
The Baja also features a wet bath featuring a 32”x24” shower with premium vinyl walls and a 4-gallon hot water system to provide the ability to get clean after that long hike in the national park. The wet bath also features a Thetford cassette toilet for when nature calls.
The Baja’s kitchen features a deep sink, premium cabinets with premium drawer slides and hardware. Customers have the option between two large Dometic DC refrigerators, microwave, air fryer and cooktop options including a Propane stove/oven! The Baja also features a ton of storage in our inhouse made and CNC milled cabinets made from premium light weight ¾” furniture grade plywood. No crappy press board or ½” cabinet materials in our builds! Additionally, all our wall panels are made from light weight, fire, and mold resistant materials to provide safety against fires and mold! All wall and floor cavities are stuffed full of Havelock wool insulation.
The Baja includes a MaxxAir 7000 vent with rain shield and remote. The customer may add an additional fan or a Dometic Penguin II AC unit as an upgrade. If you need heat, we also provide an upgrade option for a Webasto gas heater.
But with the Baja, it’s not just all about it’s sexy good looks. The Baja was designed to be a boondocking platform with complete off-grid capabilities. Featuring a total of 29 gallons of fresh water, you have enough water for extended periods of off-grid adventure. The Baja also features two 7-gallon grey water tanks.
The Baja also features a Yeti 6000X power system with 500AH of Lithium power with a 2000W inverter that can handle surges of 3500W. The Yeti is charged by 330W of solar. The Baja’s power system also charges via your van’s alternator while driving. Lastly, the Baja can also be charged up by shore power. The power system consists of only the best possible components to provide an easy to use and reliable power source for your off-grid needs.
All of our designs are semi-custom, meaning you can choose some of your design finishes (make it yours!) and choose from our list of paint colors, hardware, ceilings, fabrics, and fixtures. Customers may also elect to upgrade various components and add additional features like air conditioning, heat, running boards, wraps, awnings and upgraded roof racks.
